Volunteer in Guatemala with La Cambalacha Art Programs for Rural Children and Youth

La Cambalacha has hosted over 400 volunteers from around the world.

We are located on beautiful Lake Atitlán, in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala.

Come share your art with the children and youth that La Cambalacha works with. If you like to dance, paint, sing, play the guitar, develop human rights or environmental awareness, do arts&crafts, juggle, trapeze, garden, cook, organize, coordinate, supervise, assist, play games, build, write, take beautiful photos or simply help out in whatever way you can - come volunteer at La Cambalacha.

We are currently working with children two afternoons a week. We don't have a fixed number of hours that volunteers work, but we do expect everyone to help out with daily chores like cleaning classroom spaces or working in the gardens. We especially need volunteers who are willing to help us organize fund-raising events - performances, on-line fundraising, offering workshops to tourism...

You don't need to be in fluent in Spanish or have any arts training to help out. We welcome students and young people interested in the work we do, who want to come and learn.

Volunteers contribute USD $300 a month (or $75 x week) for lodging, with fully-equipped communal kitchen. We have two large dorms for singles, and one cabin for couples.

There are usually between 1-3 volunteers, plus permanent staff, living here at any given time. Our staff also lives on-site and is available 24/7 to make sure volunteers are comfortable and safe.

We recommend a minimum of three weeks for volunteer stays.
